Jason and his crew did a great job of installing our fence. They were very timely and made sure to ask us if we had any questions regarding the fence installation.

Great service and communication! Installed a new privacy vinyl fence and even came to repair after a bad storm for me while I was out of town.

Tiller Fence did a great job replacing my old fence. They installed my first fence years ago and it lasted through several big storms and still looked good after all those years. The new fence was installed in one day. The crew was professional and did a good job cleaning up. The stain was completed today. Highly recommend.

Great cedar fence install with cap and trim. Also did the metal fence on common area to match my HOA requirement. They communicate well and get the job done quickly and we were not left with any problems.

Tiller installed several hundred feet of 7 ft high white vinyl privacy fence on my corner lot in Norman. I couldn't have asked for a more professional and customer-oriented company. And the quality of work was actually better than what I'd hoped it would be, all at a more than fair price. He did everything we agreed to, didn't cut any corners and even went over & above in many areas to ensure my satisfaction. Thank you Luke! 110% satisfied!

Luke and Bobby were excellent. Bobby built the nicest fence. His Customer Service was some of the best I’ve had. He answered all my questions and told me to go around the fence, after he built it “, and pick it apart because he wanted me to be happy with it. I I’m a single woman making the decisions myself. Sometimes I feel like I get taken advantage of. But not with Tiller Fence. I definitely give them five stars.

Deck Railing FAQs

What Is the Best Railing for a Deck in Oklahoma City?
The best railing depends on your deck, budget, maintenance preferences, and the look you want. Aluminum is a popular choice for Oklahoma because it offers excellent corrosion resistance and handles changing weather conditions well. Composite, cable, glass, steel, and wood can also be good options depending on your priorities.
How Much Does Deck Railing Installation Cost?
The cost of deck railing installation depends on the material, linear footage, number of posts, stairs, corners, and complexity of the project. Wood can be a more cost-effective starting option, while cable, glass, composite, and premium metal systems generally cost more. Talk with Tiller Fence and Deck for an estimate based on your actual deck rather than relying on a generic per-foot price.
What Are Oklahoma City's Deck Railing Code Requirements?
Oklahoma City follows adopted residential building codes with local amendments. Guardrails are generally required when a deck is 30 inches or more above the ground, and residential guards are typically required to be at least 36 inches high. Openings between vertical balusters also generally need to prevent a 4-inch sphere from passing through. Your railing plan should always account for current local code requirements before installation begins.
How Strong Does a Deck Railing Need to Be?
Deck railings aren't only decorative. Guard systems are generally designed to withstand a concentrated load of at least 200 pounds at required points, and railing posts need secure connections to the deck's structural framing. Proper installation is a priority because the strength of the finished railing depends on more than the top rail and balusters you can see.
Which Deck Railing Requires the Least Maintenance?
Aluminum and composite are among the easiest railing materials to maintain. Aluminum doesn't rot and high-quality architectural powder coating provides strong resistance to corrosion, UV exposure, and heat. Wood requires more upkeep and typically needs to be re-stained or sealed every two to three years to keep it protected.
Are Cable or Glass Railings a Good Choice if I Want to Keep My View?
Yes. Glass railings provide clear, unobstructed views, while cable systems use slim horizontal lines that keep the railing from taking center stage. Trex Signature® X-Series™ Cable Railing, for example, combines aluminum framing with stainless-steel cable for a contemporary look with more open sightlines.
Do Dark Deck Railings Get Hot in the Oklahoma Sun?
They can. Dark composite materials can absorb considerable heat when exposed to direct sunlight, which is worth considering before choosing black or other dark finishes. Material, finish, deck orientation, and sun exposure should all be considered when selecting a railing for Oklahoma's hot summers.
How Long Do Trex Deck Railings Last?
Trex offers several railing systems with warranties ranging from 15 to 50 years, depending on the product. Trex Enhance™ Steel Railing carries a 15-year warranty, Trex Select® Classic Railing has a 25-year warranty, and Trex Signature® X-Series™ Cable Railing includes a 50-year warranty. We can help you compare Trex products and choose the right system for your deck and budget.
Do I Need a Permit to Add Railings to My Deck in Oklahoma City?
It depends on the scope of the project. Oklahoma City generally requires permits for decks attached to a home or elevated more than 30 inches above grade. Adding or replacing a railing may also need to meet current structural and safety requirements. Before work begins, it's important to check what applies to your particular project.
Can You Replace the Railing on My Existing Deck?
In many cases, yes. You don't necessarily need an entirely new deck to change the railing. The first step is checking the existing deck and framing to determine whether they're in suitable condition for the new railing system. From there, we can talk through materials, style, labor, and cost, and help you choose a railing that works with the deck you already have.
